Publication Ethics

Authors are responsible for the originality of manuscripts submitted to Mapta Journal of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MJMIE) and the original data based on which the manuscript is provided must be available upon on editor request. Authors are responsible for the contents of their manuscript, including article claims, conclusions, and appropriate citation, acknowledgments, and author contribution.

Authors of Mapta Journal of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering must confirm the following:

  • Checked Submitted manuscripts must be the original work of the author(s)
  • Checked Only unpublished manuscripts should be submitted
  • Checked It is unethical to submit a manuscript to more than one journal concurrently
  • Checked Any conflict of interest must be clearly stated
  • Checked Acknowledge the sources of data used in the development of the manuscript
  • Checked All errors discovered in the manuscript after submission must be swiftly communicated to the Editor

Plagiarism

Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:

  • Checked Directly copying text from other sources without attribution
  • Checked Copying ideas, images, or data from other sources without attribution
  • Checked Reusing text from your own previous publications without attribution or agreement of the editor (Exception: Reusing text from the Methods section in the author’s previous publications, with attribution to the source, is acceptable.
  • Checked Using an idea from another source with slightly modified language without attribution
  •

If plagiarism is detected during the peer review process, the manuscript may be rejected. If plagiarism is detected after publication, we may issue a correction or retract the paper, as appropriate. Mapta Journal of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering use "iThenticate" software to detect plagiarism.

Errata and Corrigenda (Changes/additions to accepted articles)

All content of published articles is subject to the editorial review process, organized by and under the auspices of the editor. Should the authors wish to add to their article after acceptance, they must submit a request to the editor and the new content will be reviewed.

  • Checked If the new material is added to the accepted article, it must be submitted for peer review as a new manuscript, referring back to the original.
  • Checked If the new material should replace the original content of the accepted article, the editor may consider the publication of an erratum or a corrigendum.

Erratum

An erratum refers to a correction of errors introduced to the article by the publisher. All publisher-introduced changes are highlighted to the author at the proof stage and any errors are ideally identified by the author and corrected by the publisher before final publication.

Corrigendum

A corrigendum refers to a change to their article that the author wishes to publish at any time after acceptance. Authors should contact the editor of the journal, who will determine the impact of the change and decide on the appropriate course of action.

Peer Review Process

All published articles in Mapta Journal of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering (MJMIE) must be passed through peer review process.

The submitted manuscript is firstly reviewed by editorial team. It will be evaluated in the office whether it is suitable with focus and scope or not. Manuscripts that do not meet this criteria are returned to the authors within one week of receipt. Every submitted manuscript which passes this step will be checked to identify any plagiarism before being reviewed by reviewers. Regarding the plagiarism, editorial team will be used plagiarism checker and Google Scholar network.

Manuscripts that pass the initial review are assigned to an Associate Editor, who selects several referees based on their expertise in that particular field. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two referees under a double-blind peer review process, where both the referees and the authors are kept anonymous. Referees are asked to evaluate the manuscript based on its originality, soundness of methodology, impact to design research, and relevance to design practices. To facilitate timely publication, referees are asked to complete their reviews within three weeks. After collecting the referees' reports, the Associate Editor makes a recommendation on the acceptability of the manuscript to the Editor-in-Chief.

Based on the referees' comments and the Associate Editor's recommendation, the Editor-in-Chief makes a final decision on the acceptability of the manuscript and communicates to the authors the decision, along with referees' reports. The final decision can be "Accept Submission", "Revisions Required", "Resubmit for Review", "Resubmit Elsewhere", or "Decline Submission." A revised manuscript should be re-submitted within six months of the decision. It will usually be returned to the original referees for evaluation.
